What does it mean?

“Raison d’être” is French for “reason to exist,” - the point/purpose of something or someone’s existence.

When people see Raison Detre, I want them to think about the purpose of their life, and to enjoy this chocolate while living meaningfully.

It feels like hardly anything is “real” anymore. Perhaps the underlying problem is that it feels like most of life’s daily requirements seem intangible, meaningless, and thus have no purpose, far from their original objective, resulting in a simulacra.

The act of making chocolate is entirely purposeful and certainly tangible. Every step must be done correctly or the bar fails. The beans must be grown carefully and the farmers treated ethically. I must roast and shell precisely, and melange with the proper ratios for at least 48 hours. Then, this is where my lovely husband shows his talents, he must temper the chocolate correctly through a process akin to metallurgy to achieve the correct crystal structure so the bar is appealing. And of course, the packaging should reflect the care in this effortful process.

All of this for the final result of amazing chocolate - a flavorful treasure, special, and complex. Enjoy!
